CAPED Scholarships

Eligibility:

Applicants must have a verifiable disability and demonstrate financial need. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for undergraduates and a minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students. Applicants must be taking at least six semester units or four quarter units at a public or private California institution of higher learning.

 To be considered, you must, in 600 words or less, tell who you want as your president from 2012 to 2016.

Amy Lowell Poetry Travelling Scholarship

Award:           Maximum Amount: $52,000

Scholarship Description:

The American poet Amy Lowell died in 1925. Her will established an annual scholarship to support travel abroad for gifted American-born poets. There is no age requirement, and there is no requirement that applicants be enrolled in a university or other education program.

The recipient must agree to spend the year abroad, as the will requires

In order to apply, please complete the attached application and return it, with (if you wish) a brief curriculum vitae, and with a representative sample of your poetry. The poetry sample must not exceed either one printed volume plus no more than 20 typed pages of your most recent work, or 40 typed pages. Applications that are incomplete or are not accompanied by a sample meeting those requirements will not be considered.

Your completed application should include two copies of all attachments including the application. The application, resume, and poetry samples must be sent by mail or other delivery service, not faxed. Applications may not be submitted by email. Because of the very heavy volume of applications, we cannot return the poetry samples to the authors.

Financial Connects Scholarship Contest

Net Literacy will be launching a national competition where students can compete for more than 100 awards that will range from $250 to $1,000 for creating videos and interactive games that relate to financial literacy

The essay requirement does not allow for many words. Focus on the most important reason for getting your degree. Nevertheless, we realize that some of you may want to say more. Ashley Soulé Conroy Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must currently be enrolled as an undergraduate student in good academic standing at
    a college or university in the United States.
  •  Applicant must have completed at least one year of college-level coursework at the time of
    application.

  •  Applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75. Official transcript
    verifying GPA must also be submitted.

  •  Applicant must prove financial need from their home campus financial aid office or by
    completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Bureau of Indian Affairs Higher Education Grant Program

Eligibility:

  • A student must be a member of or at least one-quarter degree Indian blood descendent of a member of an American Indian tribe who are eligible for the special programs and services provided by the United States through the Bureau of Indian Affairs to Indians because of their status as Indians.

  • Be accepted for admission to a nationally accredited institution of higher education that provides a course of study conferring the Associate of Arts or Bachelor’s degree.

  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the financial aid officer of
    the post-secondary institution.

  • The grant application is available from the education office of the Tribe in which you are affiliated or possess membership. As the majority of federally recognized tribes are administering the grant program for their tribal members, call your tribe first.

Scholarship Description: There is no application fee for the LEPD Grant Program.
Application Deadline: There is no deadline to apply (applications are accepted throughout the academic year).
Residency: U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen; California resident

Award may be used for: Full time or Part time study.
Award may be used at: Two or Four-year college.

Designated institutions: California postsecondary institutions accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

El Cajon Elks Lodge offers scholarship to qualified students and older students who require training and retraining. Applicants must be citizens of the United States and reside within the jurisdictional limits of the El Cajon Elks Lodge. The National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children's Foundation NLEAFCF Scholarship

Scholarship Description

The National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children’s Foundation (NLEAFCF) provides both grants and scholarships to children and families who have lost a parent in the line of duty, had a parent become permanently disabled in the line of duty or are enduring significant financial hardships due to tragic circumstances.
This merit-based award involves a minimum of $1,000 and up to $5,000. The number of scholarships awarded depends upon the yield of the endowment.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be a child of a law enforcement agent/officer or firefighter who lost his/her life in the line of duty ( see Attachment A ). Awards are based on scholastic and other achievements such as demonstration of leadership, outstanding performance in the arts, sports, or volunteer activities benefiting the community. Candidates are not required to demonstrate financial need. Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, certificate or diploma at any accredited college, university or technical institution in the United States . Each candidate must be registered as a full-time student during the entire academic year and maintain a 2.5 out of a 4.0 grade point average, or the equivalent.

Application are accepted year round. It the candidate's responsibility to ensure that all required documents are received.

Sphinx Competition

Scholarship Description:

The Sphinx Competition presented by Chase is held every year in Ann Arbor and Detroit, Michigan. The competition is open to all Junior High, High School, and College age Black and Latino string players residing in the U.S. The Sphinx Competition offers young Black and Latino classical string players a chance to compete under the guidance of an internationally renowned panel of judges and to perform with established professional musicians in a competition setting. Its primary goals are to encourage, develop and recognize classical music talent in the Black and Latino communities.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Sphinx Musical Assistance Fund, one must apply to compete in the Sphinx Competition for Young Black and Latino String Players.

 Each year, all 18 semi-finalists in the competition (applicants that are chosen to advance to the Semi-Finals Round upon the review of preliminary audition tapes) will be entitled to receive Sphinx assistance Fund Scholarships.
