NEW VOICES ON-LINE, the on-line version of the New Voices Student Reading

Programme, updated bi-annually with the semester's best original works by Grossmont

College creative writing students, includes added photos and creative works; brief

biographies; contact information; links to other departmental sites of relevance; and

comments from the authors about their own themes, inspirations and aspirations.  The idea

for New Voices evolved from the Student Reading 'Zine, whose on-line counterpart was

simply called the Creative Writing On-Line Chapbook.  In 2006, the Student Reading

adopted the moniker of "New Voices:  A Student Reading," and its printed programme

containing printed versions of the student works expanded into this multi-media on-line

counterpart.

Other publications edited and produced by the Grossmont College

Creative Writing Department include the Cowles Mountain Journal,

a widely circulated periodical containing

faculty writing and art work, including

original works submitted by authors /

instructors from a variety of other California

community colleges across the state.  The

journal's moniker is taken from the name of

the nearby Cowles Mountain, one of the

campus's beautiful and commanding scenic

highlights.  At present, this publication is

retired, but its popularity endures enough that it may one-day be

resurrected in the future, perhaps as an on-line publication.
